About Us
Babes in the Backcountry was founded in 1996 by 3x Telemark Free-Skiing Champion, Leslie Ross.
Leslie recognized the lack of women in the backcountry and was inspired to provide opportunities for women to get outside & enjoy the outdoors. With her passion & tenacity she created a company that has excelled at providing opportunities for women of all levels to learn outdoor skills and be empowered in the outdoors.
As a Babes in the Backcountry Alum, Jenna Boisvert took over the company in 2011.
Jenna's beliefs are the same, and today Babes’ workshops continue to build confidence and empower female backcountry enthusiasts across the west. Backcountry Babes strives to provide quality opportunities for everyday women to get outside and learn skills with women, from women. Babes' events are designed to be fun and non-threatening, inspiring women to enjoy outdoor recreation & adventure with other women.
Jenna's connection to the mountains was ingrained from growing up in Colorado. She now lives in Alaska where she finds peace in the remote wilds and scenic beauty of the state. She is an avid backcountry telemark skier and started the first all-women’s AIARE L1 Avalanche courses in Anchorage, in 2010. She enjoys any sport that takes her outside, but spends most of her time skiing, hiking, backpacking, and rafting.
Jenna is passionate about the importance of instilling confidence and self-empowerment to women so that they can enjoy the outdoors comfortably and with confidence. She strives to carry on the reputation of Babes and plans to expand its outreach to offer more diverse recreational opportunities to many more women.
Cindy is a certified alpine ski instructor at Breckenridge Ski Resort who grew up in the Colorado mountains. She also has an extensive background in broadcast media advertising & promotions.
Put these skills together and you've got the perfect combination to create the Babe's Marketing Maven.
As a self-deemed "powder princess" Cindy enjoys playing in the snow on both alpine and nordic skis in the winter. Rock climbing and hiking are a must for her in the summertime.

Kirstin Nelson
Events Vixen (Colorado)
During the winter season Kirstin is a full time ski patroller at Breckenridge Ski Resort, while she spends the summer months teaching for the Colorado Mountain Club's Youth Education Program. As an aspiring mountaineer Kirstin has climbed volcanoes in Ecuador and Argentina and has many more mountain adventrues planned for the future.
Kirstin is looking forward to expanding Babes programs throughout the country and touching the lives of many women; empowering them to empower themselves.
