This trip is in commemoration of the first & only All-Women's Grand Canyon Raft Trip accomplished in Aug 1978 by 28 women sponsored by Women in the Wilderness! This second all-women's trip will include several of the original boatwomen & you will be a part of the documentary film about the two trips! This is an exclusive opportunity that you shouldn't miss; celebrating multi-generations of women & why we raft the Grand Canyon together!
With everything you need, you will journey 225 river miles through the heart of the Grand Canyon on non-motorized, women-powered rafts! Each day you will venture farther downriver enjoying the slowing of time as you drift along under colorful canyon walls, ride world-class whitewater rapids, explore unique side canyons accessible only by river, camp under the stars, and restore balance in your soul with the solitude of the canyon and camaraderie of the exclusive Backcountry Babes group. Every day will differ in its unique itinerary, molded in response to the opportunities, weather, river flow, and particular interests of the group.
Grand Canyon
During the two weeks you will have opportunities to enjoy the company of several of the women from the original All-Women's Rafting of the Grand Canyon, learn about the history of early river runners, enjoy the unique geology and plant & animal life of the canyon, and understand the importance of protecting the Grand Canyon’s natural and cultural resources. The trip will balance physical activity with time to enjoy the immense solitude and peacefulness of the canyon. Take in the scenery, find fun in the adrenaline-inducing rapids, swim in the river, explore side canyons, find your inner yogi in the morning on a sandy beach, meet new friends, and take time to relax, refresh, and reflect.

Aug 3 (5 pm):
Flagstaff –BC Babes Evening Social & Pre-trip Meet
Aug 4 (6 am):
Shuttle to put-in for the Canyon
Aug 4-17 (all day):
Raft the length of the Grand Canyon
Aug 17 (12-5 pm):
Shuttle back to Flagstaff
THIS IS A TYPICAL BACKCOUNTRY BABES ADVENTURE ...
an “active” vacation, participating in a fun outdoor recreational sport while learning about and connecting with yourself and the land.
Two different types of rafts will be available-several oar-powered and one paddle raft will provide the opportunity to participate at different levels throughout the trip. There will be an undeniable challenge, shared adventure, and personal satisfaction along with the flexibility to meet a variety of interests and changing moods of the group.

$3488 - Grand Canyon rafting (guided river trip, all food & most gear included)
$12 - Grand Canyon park pass
$14 – Donation to Grand Canyon Conservation Fund
$261- Pre-trip evening social, pre-trip lodging & breakfast, personal life-coaching on trip, administrative costs
