Inspiring Women Through
Outdoor Adventure
Backcountry Babes, LLC operates under special use permit from the USDA Forest Service, White River National Forest,
and is an equal opportunity service provider and employer.

After signing up for an even bigger adventure; a weeklong backcountry ski hut trip in Canada with the Babes 2 years later, she was hooked on the women’s specific adventures and ski opportunities. She then transitioned into instructing women’s specific avalanche courses in Alaska herself with several other fantastic women instructors.
In 2010, she helped offer the first ever, all women’s AIARE L1 in Alaska. Jenna then took one giant leap even farther by jumping on the opportunity to take over Babes in the Backcountry from its founder, Leslie Ross.
Jenna is passionate about the unique quality and instruction style that all women’s courses and adventure trips can provide for the satisfaction level, confidence building, and overall empowerment and joy it gives to women. She believes in the things that Babes stands for and is excited about taking the helm from Leslie. Jenna strives to carry on the reputation of Babes and also to expand its outreach to offer even more diverse recreational and personal growth opportunities to many more women.
Jenna currently lives in Anchorage with her enthusiastic mountain-loving husky, Kijik. She enjoys learning about and experiencing the beauty and power of the natural world, and is passionate about the human connection to the outdoors and its beneficial effect on the mind, body, and wellness of our souls. She believes in having good environmental ethics and social morals, and is highly energized by having great friends, being outdoors, keeping her balance, and by helping women accomplish great things. Jenna is a certified AIARE L1 instructor, a rafting guide, and also likes to x-country ski, hike, mountain bike, backpack, and loves to encounter a wolverine in the mountains once in awhile.
Jenna grew up in Colorado where she cultivated her lifelong and immense connection to the mountains. She found her passion for skiing a little later in life but is now a devoted backcountry telemark skier and enthusiastic mountain lover. Jenna took her first all women’s outdoor course with Babes in the Backcountry in 2005 after being talked into it by a friend. She traveled all the way from AK to Silverton, CO to participate in Sisters in the Steeps. She was surprised how fun it was.
