As the pioneer of Women's Only Backcountry Education, Babes in the Backcountry strives to continually develop high quality workshops that not only provide a valuable educational resource for women, but empower and inspire the mind, body and spirit.

Founded in 1998, Babes in the Backcountry Workshops continue to help build confidence and empower women backcountry enthusiasts from around the world. Designed for women and taught by women, the Babes' mission is to provide education in a non-threatening, hands-on, outdoor environment, where questions are always welcome and encouraged. The goal is to make the whole backcountry experience less intimidating (especially avalanche and snow science education). The workshops provide a forum for women to strengthen and enhance their decision-making skills and create an opportunity for women to become less reliant on others and more responsible for themselves.

Babes in the Backcountry also provides an opportunity for women to meet other backcountry "Babes" with similar interests and to spend fun weekend getaways at a backcountry cabin or in a majestic mountain setting. The Babes' workshops help to create a balance in the outdoor community through encouraging more women to become involved in backcountry pursuits. We are dedicated to Inspiring & Educating Women in a Fun, Supportive, Safe Environment. Classes are available in: Telemark Skiing, Backcountry and Avalanche Skills, Hut Trips, Mountaineering, Steep Skiing, Mountain Biking and Empowerment Workshops, Guided Backcountry Tours, Adventure Trips and more.
