Through the guidance and expertise of our professional female instructors, you will gain the knowledge and skills to become a more educated traveler and to increase your awareness of backcountry concerns and hazards. No matter what your ability level is, continuing to develop your backcountry skills will help you to travel smarter/safer and more efficiently. With this knowledge and comfort comes more time to thoroughly enjoy your outdoor experiences on many different levels. Whether you are looking for an introduction on "how to" go into the backcountry, to improve on your skiing/riding in challenging backcountry terrain or seeking to fine tune and enhance your avalanche awareness skills, BIB has a workshop designed with your skill level in mind.

General Descriptions
Backcountry Basics: Intro to the Backcountry/Winter Safety Courses
BCB Skills days are designed for the beginner backcountry enthusiast interested in gaining information on the equipment and skills integral for safe winter backcountry travel beyond the groomed trails. All disciplines welcome: Alpine/Downhill, Snow Board, Telemark, Cross Country or Snow Shoe. The day is split between indoor classroom time and outdoor field sessions. These courses follow the American Institute For Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Avalanche Awareness Curriculums while incorporating our unique teaching style/learning atmosphere with special BIB perks.
Backcountry Weekend
Designed for the beginner backcountry enthusiast looking to travel beyond the groomed trails. These multi-day workshops combine both indoor classroom and outdoor field time day with evening events to provide an intro to the equipment and skills involved to travel safely and more enjoyably in the winter backcountry. Hut Trip and Town based options available.
Avalanche Level 1
Workshops and Hut Trips: Designed for the advanced intermediate and up Telemark, Alpine or Snowboarder with some previous backcountry experience looking to spend a fun weekend getaway dialing in their Avalanche Awareness Skills for traveling safely in Avalanche Terrain. These courses follow the American Institute For Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) and American Avalanche Association (AAA) Curriculums for Avalanche Level I while incorporating our unique teaching style/learning atmosphere with special BIB perks.
Avalanche Level 1 Refresher
Designed for the advanced intermediate and up Telemark, Alpine or Snowboarder interested in brushing up on her Avalanche Safety Travel skills. This course draws on the AIARE and AAA Curriculum for Avalanche I. Pre-requisite: Avalanche I or equivalent. The refresher day is split between indoor classroom time and outdoor field sessions to allow you enough time for questions and skills review on an afternoon ski tour. More Info.
Avalanche Level 1 Refresher Hut Trip:
Designed for the advanced intermediate and up Telemark, Alpine or Snowboarder interested in brushing up on her Avalanche Safety Travel Skills. To maximized field time, the workshop incorporates a backcountry hut/yurt trip to allow for more skills practice. This course draws on the AIARE and AAA Curriculum for Avalanche I. Pre-requisite: Avalanche I or equivalent.
Avalanche Level II Hut Trip: Ready for the next step in your Avalanche Apprenticeship? Combine a fun weekend get away to build on your prior classroom and practical backcountry experience. The workshop incorporates a backcountry hut/yurt trip to maximized field time and skills development. Pre-requisite: Avalanche I. This course follows the AIARE and AAA Curriculum for Avalanche II.
