Inspiring connection
through Outdoor Adventures

Programs Director: Kirstin Nelson
Kirstin interned for Babes in the Backcountry while attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins.  She is originally from the suburbs of Chicago and a true Midwestern girl at heart.  As an aspiring mountaineer she has climbed volcanoes in Ecuador and Aconcagua in Argentina, she also has a list of future peaks and traveling adventures on her wall.  She is a full time ski patroller for Breckenridge Ski Resort in the winter and she spends her spring months climbing and skiing the mountains of ColoradoIn the summer Kirstin teaches for the Youth Education Program with the Colorado Mountain Club. After spending numerous summers at Clearwater Camp for Girls in Minocqua, Wisconsin, Kirstin has a passion for teaching and empowering women in the wilderness. Pink sunglasses, an i-pod filled with female folk singers and reggae, dark chocolate, a camera, and short adventure story book are among essentials found in her backcountry pack.  She is looking forward to expanding Babes programs throughout the country and touching the lives of many women, empowering them to empower themselves.

Operations Director: Alison Patricelli

Alison met Leslie Ross while pedaling her town bike in Breckenridge. After Alpining and riding for many years, she decided to take a Tele Clinic with the Babes...she was hooked! Alison grew up in CT and moved to CO in 1993 to attend veterinary school at Colorado State University. After vet school, a surgical residency, and a certification in Chinese acupuncture, Alison, her husband, three children, and three dogs have settled in Breckenridge where she founded and directs Breckenridge Montessori. In her spare time, she climbs, runs, kitesurfs, and finds peace exploring nature with her dogs. Alison loves helping women to experience new adventures and connections with the Babes.

California Head Babe: Marianne McCarroll
Marianne became a Babe Alumna in 2004 when she took the babes Avy 1 hut trip in Lake Tahoe. She has been taking and helping to coordinate Babes workshops from the Tahoe basin to the White Rim in Moab, Utah since then. Thanks to Babes, Marianne is now a capable telemark skier and and an active avalanche apprentice.

Last month, she happily sold her last piece of alpine ski gear(!). Marianne loves meeting outdoor women and facilitating their learning more about telemark skiing and fun, safe travel in the backcountry. Come and join her and the growing Tahoe Babes community!

When she is not skiing, Marianne is cooking, gardening, windsurfing, mountain biking and leading trips for a local travel company where she lives in Stockton, CA. Learn about her passion for food at www.mariannespantry.com
